Past Time for a Update! Sept 2020

I’m am so bad about updating here! Even my other WordPress page is in serious need of a WIP update. The problem is I’m not making huge advances in my writing. For a number of reasons. One I’m a slow writer, two I tend to edit as I write (and you should never do that!), three there’s been long stretches of time that my characters just don’t talk to me! And lastly…just my own lack of discipline in the midst the pandemic. So here is an up to date progress report!

Taylor – Paranormal Operations, Inc. Book 1 (PNR)

Nothing has change with this. My edits are done. Now I have to send the manuscript out to be professional edited. That’s not going to happen soon. Funds are tight for me and about to get tighter. I’ll have to look at my budget at a later date. But it’s DONE. Word count ended up at 87,932.

Note: I did play around one Saturday with the another cover for this one. Still on the fence about it though. Does it have a PNR vibe?

Polar Shift – Mistletoe, North Pole Book 2 (PNR)

I’m not working on this for now . I’m still 9 chapters into it and while the characters were talking to me again, they still didn’t want o go in the direction I wanted them to go. I hope to get some work done on the wip this week, maybe. The story I’ve been working on is stuck, so I’m thinking I need a change for a few days. So I’m deciding if I need to do a small rewrite or just forge ahead and see where everyone in the story ends up. Word count so far is 11,856

Tarkir – Dark World Warriors Book 1 (SFR)

So this is the book I’ve been working on. I’ve been trying to work on it at least an hour or two a day (during the week). And I’ve moved the story along a lot. But in thinking about what I have so far, it’s been more SF than SFR. I mean the two main characters have met, there’s some sexual tension between them, but no action yet. And I’m working on chapter 17! I may have rethink some of the early scenes. Word count as of today is 26,039

Incubus MC – Demon (PNR/MC)

I changed the location of the story. I had this one set in Las Vegas, but now it’s set in Portland, Or and the communities just west of there. I had to make this change because I have a story idea that needed to be set in Las Vegas and I didn’t want both books (series) set in the same place. So I need to make the changes in the manuscript. Word count is at 4,910.

Kai and Kekipi (Hawaiian Tales PNR)

Nothing has change with this. I’m not sure I’ll publish this one or just make it a freebie for on my author’s page. I’ve kind of lost interest in this story. I’m writing from a weird, third person point of view. We’re were in Hawaii in May for a two weeks, but didn’t even work on this short story. I’m still at 3,178 words on this one.

Future Plans:

Hubby and I are both home. We’re not going out much since we’re both older and fall into the higher risk category for the pandemic. Hubby is staying busy working on our race trailer, while attempt to write (see reason why that’s slow above). We go out for the essentials, food, Dr visits, prescription pick ups, that kind of stuff. So far (knocking on wood) we’ve avoided any sickness.

My writing plans for the year are fluid. Work on my Dark World Warriors book (Tarkir).Tinker with both my MC (Demon, Incubus MC, #1) and Polar Shift (Mistletoe, North Pole #2) and maybe find some time to finish my Hawaiian Legend wip.

I did take a couple of days to redo my book bible, where I try to keep all my info on each book I’m working on and new story ideas. I had a Excel book I was using(a different sheet for each book) but it prove to be less than ideal. So now have Word docs that I can fill out and print as reference while still saving soft copies on my hard drive.

Still so much to do!

Polar Shift – Mistletoe, North Pole Book 2 (PNR)

I’m now working on this one. I’m about 13 chapters into it and while the characters are talking to me again, they aren’t wanting to go in the direction I want them to go. So I’m deciding if I need to do a small rewrite or just forge ahead and see where everyone in the story ends up. Word count so far is 17,162

Tarkir – Dark World Warriors Book 1 (SFR)

I have done no work on this story. I hope to get to it after edits are done completely on my Paranormal Operations, Inc. book. Word count hasn’t change, it’s still at 8,889 words.

Incubus MC – Demon (PNR/MC)

See Tarkir, above. No progress at all. But I have been thinking about the story line. I think I need to “punch” up the story. Make it grittier, rougher, at least the bikers in it. Word count is at 4,870.

Kai and Kekipi (Hawaiian Tales PNR)

I’m not sure I’ll publish this one or just make it a freebie for on my author’s page. I’ve kind of lost interest in this story. I’m writing from a weird, third person point of view. We’re were in Hawaii in May for a two weeks, but didn’t even work on this short story. I’m still at 3,178 words on this one.

Future Plans

Hubby retired in Jan of 2019, so writing has been a bit hit and miss. I do love him being home through. He holds much better conversations than the cats! LOL! I’m still on schedule to get my SS and Medicare in Dec. Although signing up for both may be a pain. I have been called for the dreaded Jury Service starting end of this week (08/01/2019) and if picked, be tied up for about 4 months.

My writing plans for the year are still to publish my Paranormal Operations, Inc. book at the end of the year (or Jan 2020). Try to complete Polar Shift (Mistletoe, North Pole #2) and maybe find some time to work on my SFR book. Plus I lots of story ideas! One even set right here in Las Vegas!

So much to do!

Excerpt From My Current WIP

This is from my current WIP, Paranormal Operations, Inc- Taylor.

Taylor’s eyes snapped to a stunning man leaning against a car. She felt a knot of heat spread through her body as she took in his rugged good looks. His hair was blond and somewhat long, almost covering the pointed tips of his ears. Emerald green eyes that crinkled at the corners, blond brows arched as he gazed back at her. His nose was straight, with a slight bump. Taylor’s eyes dropped to his mouth, his lips full, and a smile highlighting a dimpled, firm chin. The man was tall, with well-muscled arms crossed. They were crossed over a chest that was covered in a tight black t-shirt with the word “Tapout” in faded white across the front.

Her eye’s dropped lower, taking in the well-worn jeans he wore. Noticing how they molded to his thighs. Taylor took a long, appraising look at the impressive bulge below his belt, before her eyes slide further down, seeing his legs crossed, his feet encased in boots.

“See something you like, darlin’?” he drawled. As if seeing this gorgeous man wasn’t enough to turn a woman’s whole body to jelly. His low, husky voice made her pantie’s wet . Taylor snapped her eyes to his and made a show of slowly looking up and down his body again before her eyes met his again.

“And if I do?” she asked, her voice sounding low.

The man laughed then, “All you have you have to do is ask, Ms. Connor”.

Welcome to Mistletoe, North Pole. A small town hidden away at the top of the world where the summers are short, and the winters are long. And Christmas is what the town does best.

Jamie Winters’s life was almost about perfect. Growing up as part of a loving family living in the lush green of the Pacific Northwest, she had her life planned out. Until one night before Christmas, fate stepped and took everyone she loved away from her. Years later she finds herself in Mistletoe, working as a waitress at Rudy’s Diner alongside her best friend, Kandy. Jamie’s not looking for love, but in a place like Mistletoe, you never know what you’ll find all wrapped up with a bow.

Christen Kringle never expected to find his mate in Mistletoe. Having been born and raised in the small town, everyone was like family. Then one night after work he meets his crew at Rudy’s. One look at the curvy brunette outsider with the dark chocolate eyes and he knew she was his. And when she touched him? His body blazed to life like the Aurora Borealis. It was fate that brought her into his life. The same fate had found mates all the men in the Kringle line.

But a menace is creeping into Mistletoe. One that not only threatens Chris and Jamie, but could end Christmas worldwide.

And So A New Year Begins

From Freeing My Muse

Happy 2017 everyone! Lets hope it’s not as turbulent as 2016 turned out to be.

I took two weeks off from work to get a few chapters done on book 1 of my Paranormal Operations, Inc manuscript. That didn’t work out as I planned it would. A lot of distractions popped up each day, even through I was home alone (except for the cats and they just ignored me!) the first week. And second week, well, my sweet hubby was home so that was a MAJOR distraction (in all kinds of very good ways!). So in the end I ended up with half a chapter done (about 900 words). Oh well…I’m back at work now and can get back to writing at lunch.

I got my first Amazon review on Santa Baby and it was a 4 ****! Then I got a second one and this one wasn’t as good…
